The Meadows Boulevard Reconstruction project will include design, removal and disposal of existing asphalt, and repaving of 0.68 miles of roadway between 28th Avenue NE to Cherry Road NE. This project will not include drainage or sidewalk improvements due to cost limitations. The City of Rio Rancho will be acting in the capacity as the lead agency, providing design oversight and project and construction management.
City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County staff will partner to utilize equipment to remove the existing asphalt. A contractor will be hired to reconstruct the road once the asphalt removals are completed,and funding for this work is being provided by the City of Rio Rancho ($300,000) and Sandoval County ($250,000).
The project will begin during summer vacation for Rio Rancho Public Schools, and is anticipated to take approximately 60 days. Detour routes will be in place while project work is taking place.
June 4, 2018: Reconstruction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps will begin.
April 2018: Notice To Proceed (NTP) was given to SBS Construction and Engineering to begin the design of the project. Their design is expected to last to the beginning of May.
May 16, 2018: Informational public meeting at Colinas Del Norte Elementary School (1001 Night Sky Ave.) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
