**1000 Books Before Kindergarten is on hiatus due to Covid-19. Please continue to keep track of your child’s reading. Books you track now will be counted towards your total when the program resumes.**
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national program designed to promote reading to babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers. Reading at home during a child’s earliest years establishes strong early literacy skills. The goal is to have as many local families as possible read 1000 books to their little ones before they start kindergarten.
How It Works
Sign up for the program at the Loma Colorado Main Library or the Esther Bone Memorial Library and receive your first 100 book reading log and kit bag.
Read with your child/children regularly.
Record the title of each book read with your child/children.
Check in at the library each time you’ve completed your 100 book reading log and receive a reward sticker and pick up a new log.
Check in at the library when you’ve read 1000 books with your child/children and receive a special completion certificate and free prize book. (Yay!)
