The parade will travel throughout the City Center area (Civic Center Circle, etc.) and near the Santa Ana Star Center. As part of the parade, children and their parents are encouraged to participate by riding decorated bicycles. Bike registration will begin at 9 a.m. on the day of the parade in front of Rio Rancho City Hall. Prizes in three different age groups – 5 to 7, 8 to 10, and 11 to 15 – will be awarded to the bike that is decorated the best, most patriotic, and most original.
The Pork & Brew event will be held both inside and outside of the Santa Ana Star Center on July 2 and July 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and July 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will include local, regional, and national participants competing and selling food items. In addition to world-class barbeque, there will also be live music, interactive family activities, and pig races and a petting zoo courtesy of the Galloping Grace Youth Ranch.
The per day admission prices for the event are $6 for general admission; $4 for active duty military with ID; free for ages 3 and under; $4 for ages 4 to 12; and $4 for those ages 65 and older.
The Rio Rancho Veterans Monument Organization is holding a ceremony to mark the 240th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
The Loma Colorado Park will serve as the best venue to enjoy one of New Mexico’s biggest and best fireworks shows on July 4. Live music will begin at 6 p.m. and the fireworks show will start at approximately 9:15 p.m. There is no admission fee to attend the show. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets. Parking will be available at surrounding lots for a $5 fee, which benefits the Rio Rancho High School Athletic Booster Club.
