Public Records Requests

The New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act provides every person the right to inspect public records of the City of Rio Rancho.

As the Chief Records Custodian for Rio Rancho, the City Clerk provides various options for individuals to exercise their right to inspect public records, as follows:

  • Fill out the Public Records Form electronically here,
  • Visit our Public Records Web Portal to view records provided for previous requests or be directed to records published via the City Website,
  • Email a request to the City Clerk's Office at clerk@rrnm.gov,
  • Fax a request to 505-994-2557, or
  • Call the City Clerk's Office at 505-891-5004
Inspection: The City Clerk's Office must allow inspection of records immediately, or as soon as practicable, but not later than fifteen (15) calendar days after the receipt of the request.  If inspection is not permitted within three (3) business days, the requester will be notified in writing via the same method used to submit the request.

When requested records are not available for inspection, the requester will be notified in writing explaining the reasons for such denial.

After inspection, records may be purchased for a reasonable fee as follows:
  • Hard copies $.25 per page or $.50 for double-sided pages,
  • CD/DVD $5.00 per disc,
  • Electronic format - No charge if already available electronically,
  • Electronic format - Convert to electronic - Actual cost associated with downloading copies
