March 3, 2026 Municipal Election

Runoff Information

A runoff election is held for a municipal office where no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast for the office on March 3, 2026. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the office will face off in the runoff election. 

Tuesday, April 14, 2026,  runoff election will have the Mayor position on the ballot between Paul M. Wymer and Alexandria C. Piland.  More information about the runoff election, including early voting and voting locations, will be released and made available soon.

Canvass of Election Results

The March 3, 2026, unofficial election results and canvass report will be presented for approval to the Sandoval and Bernalillo County canvassing boards by the Rio Rancho City Clerk no later than March 13, 2026. Immediately following the approval, the results of the election will be official, and a certificate of canvass will be issued. 

Term Start Date/ Swearing-in Ceremony

For an individual elected on March 3, 2026, and not subject to a runoff election, their term of office begins April 1, 2026. More details regarding the swearing-in ceremony will be released and made available soon.
