Overconsumption and a throwaway culture have led to a global waste crisis. While even complex trash is technically recyclable, most materials are not profitable to recycle. As a result, waste piles up in landfills and pollutes our planet while virgin materials are extracted from the earth to create new products.
At TerraCycle, their mission is Eliminating the Idea of Waste®. Businesses, government entities, and people like you work with TerraCycle globally to keep trash out of landfills or from incineration. Through collaboration and innovation, TerraCycle has developed the world's first solutions in everything from recycling to reuse.
Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful will continue to place TerraCycle bins throughout the community to help reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill.
There are a variety of Zero Waste bins available, and currently, KRRB has placed “Power Strips and Cords Waste” recycling boxes at all Rio Rancho Public Libraries and the Parks and Recreation Department at City Hall.
We encourage schools, places of worship, and local businesses to explore this initiative further. Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful is happy to assist with the installation of a TerraCycle bin to help keep waste out of landfills. Once the box is full, KRRB will collect it.
