2025 Children's Water Festival
The Children’s Water Festival is an annual event with a goal to educate fifth-grade school children about water and its relationship to humans, animals and other natural resources in a fun and interactive atmosphere. The 2025 Children’s Water Festival theme was “Protecting the Rio Rancho Watershed.” This year’s event hosted approximately 760 fifth-graders from 6 different Rio Rancho Elementary schools. Each student participated in 4 hands on, water themed activities.
The Children’s Water Festival includes an artwork contest where each student is invited to draw and color their idea of the event’s theme. The winner of the contest then has their artwork featured on a t-shirt which is then given to all students who attend the event. This year’s artwork contest winner was Mikayla Walters from Vista Grande Elementary School.
This year's event had the help of approximately 70 volunteers who generously gave their time and expertise to help make the event a success. It was also made possible with the help of several local sponsors.
